It is apple time in Wisconsin!
We have been struggling through some very hot days here so it is hard to believe it is September and apple time but honest, it is! I say struggle because boy, when it is heat index of 100 outside, it is incredibly hot in front of the ovens! Well, that will soon be behind us, we are supposed to get our first cool weather here by the end of this week, hurray!
When I was little my Mom would take any leftover pie crust, roll it up like a cinnamon roll with butter, sugar and cinnamon, bake it till crispy and she called them tarts. The first time my brother Jeff took a bite of our Apple Graham crackers, he said, “Wow, tastes like Mom’s tarts!” Trust me, this is a very high compliment!
Try Apple Grahams by themselves, in a fall themed s’more, with a Cheddar or a Brie, the possibilities are endless. Remember, don’t be afraid to mix savory and sweet, you will be delighted by the results.
Happy Fall and I hope you are enjoying some crisp autumn days where ever you are. It is my favorite time of year.
